PROFESSIONAL BLACK GIRL YEARBOOK
Edited by Dr. Yaba Blay with photography direction by visual artist, Adama Delphine Fawundu, the PROFESSIONAL BLACK GIRL YEARBOOK is a visual celebration and archive of Black girl culture.
Grounded in nostalgia and framed around the iconic photography of Jamel Shabazz, this yearbook seeks to document the styles and attitudes of eras gone by – from your grandmother’s pin curls, to your mama’s Afro, to your own hard curl stacks (shoutout to the 90s). Throw in some bamboo earrings, a few fur stoles, and a bell bottom or two and we’ve got the makings of a beautiful tribute to who we’ve been, who we are, and who we will always be — Black girls (emphasis on the Black).
The yearbook is currently under development and projected to be released in 2018.
